Wii Gameplay
http://media.games.ign.com/articles/...d_1657122.html
Some gameplay from Battalion Wars 2, Mario Strikers Charged, Red Steel, Wii Orchestra, Wii Tennis, Wii Baseball and Wii... uh... Duckhunt 2006? Looks very fun. The reporter seemed to get the hang of the controllers. Still no word on how accessing Nintendo's back catalog through the internet will work... |

I'll wait on the Wii until I'm sure there will be a Star Wars game incorporating the new controller with a lightsaber.

I saw it somewhere that Lucasarts was going to use the wii controller for a Jedi game. Which will probably be one thing that may actually get me to get a console for the first time since I got my NES in the mid 80s.

Wii has amazing potential, but I question whether companies will be able to program for the new control system in inventive ways, or if the whole system will feel like a gimmick after a few games.
Also, a lightsaber game would be cool, but how hard will that be to program for? Red Steel, one of the launch games, has a sword you control in first person, but it doesnt follow your every move, just has a lame slash system. I think Wii is gonna be a big hit with shopping parents this holiday season as it will be half the price of the 360 and 1/3 the price of the PS3, but Im not sure its gonna win the console war with its lack of power and non state of the art graphics. This holiday is gonna be a bloody, exciting time for console fans. IG

If they follow the multiplayer strategy they followed with the DS, I think it will end up being stronger then the 360's pay-to-play system. I don't think the PS3 is even in the running. It's a modern day 3DO. |

The PS3 has priced itself into a joke. I do think the Wii is definately aimed at a particular market, and there is always the niche market of Nintendo fanboys. Now that's not a bad place to start, but they also need to be able to move beyond it. Keep in mind, that GameCube did ok, just not great. If they can really incorporate the new controller as something more than just a gimmick then they really can push the industry forward.
Another thing about the PS3 is that it is apparently just insanely hard to program for. The Xbox is basically a computer, programmers can easily focus their energies on that. By all reports its just very difficult to code for the PS3 hardware, making it expensive to make games for. Add in the pricing.... well... Sony is really looking at losing the market.

No I luckily avoided that.
Return Fire was the only game that was basically played, that game was awesome. Road Rash wasnt that bad either. Every other game has completly disappeared from my memory. Draw your own conclusions. Although I vaguely remember a game show with full motion video that repeated questions after like the 3rd time we played it. Next Generation indeed... IG

I can't wait for a star wars game like that. As for being gimmicky... there will be several companies that won't get it and make it too silly... but Nintendo has stated the controller is supposed to be gimmicky. Many 1st party nintendo games have "gimmick modes". The like gimmicky... and I gotta say I do too.

What does everyone think know that release details for wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii are out?
Frankly, I thought it should have come in at under 200. Taking a loss on the hardware so more peeps would purchase it and therefore more people to buy and dload the classic nintendo and sega ganes that will be available for Dload, as there are not gonna be any development cost for releasing and selling games that allready exist so why not take a loss on the hardware!!! 250$ is a little close to the core Xbox 360 (299$). Of course the core 360 is a bad deal, but Im thinking about all those parents shopping this holiday season. IG

3000 to convert of which around 2500 will rarely be purchased or played. I mean... there were some really crap games.
I think everything is good except paying 60 bucks to buy additional controllers+nunchuck. As far as the price of the wii system... nintendo always said it would probably be around the 250 mark. It was reported by most sites that it would likely be 250. And as soon as it was announced that it would be 250... everyone was shocked. Quite silly if you ask me. I'm psyched. Gonna preorder mine as soon as the gamestop in my area has it available to do so.
